Ananda's Journey


Ananda Ramsingh, a student of St. George’s College, Barataria, started playing Badminton at the age of 12, in April 2012 and in just three months, qualified to play for the Trinidad and Tobago National Badminton team. She is a member of the Central Badminton Club and Academy (CBAC). Ananda placed first in the Under 13 Mixed Doubles and first in the Under 13 Girls’ Doubles, June 2012– Solo Open Badminton Junior Championship 2012.

She represented Trinidad and Tobago at the CAREBACO games in the Dominican Republic in August 2012, where she won a Bronze Medal. She also placed first in the Under 13 Girls’ Doubles CBAC Tournament, November 2012. Since then, she has won, Under 15 Mixed Doubles, Under 15 Girls’ Doubles – T&T National Junior Badminton Tournament 2013. She also won the Secondary School, Under 15 Girls’ Singles Secondary Schools Badminton Association Tournament 2013.

On 19th January 2013, The Trinidad and Tobago Badminton Association, awarded Ananda, the 2012 Most Outstanding Junior Female Award – Under 13. She was also chosen from CBAC to attend the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Olympic Camp at the Centre of Excellence from July 22nd to July 27th.

Ananda also won a bronze medal at the CAREBACO Games in September 2013 in Puerto Rico. In August 2014, she represented Trinidad and Tobago at the CAREBACO Games in Jamaica. She was also the Triple Crown winner at the National Badminton Tournament held in May 2014. Ananda had also started a Badminton Club at her school St. George’s College where she trained students on lunch times. She also trained five of her peers for the Solo Open Junior Championships in May 2013.

In May 2014, at the National Badminton Tournament, Ananda won the Triple Crown for Under 15 Girls Singles, Girls Doubles and Mixed categories. She was highlighted in the Express Newspapers and CNMG Sports News.

Ananda had also as of 2017, received World Junior Ranking (472) and was the number one female Junior Badminton Player in Trinidad and Tobago at that time which she received the award for MOST OUTSTANDING FEMALE PLAYER at the TTBA Awards and Dinner. She also competed in the PANAM REGIONAL BADMINTON GAMES in Canada this year where she reached the quarter final in Under 19 Singles and Girls Doubles. She has competed in the 2017 Carebaco Junior Championships and International tournament. There she was captain of the entire Junior Team and led the team to winning bronze at the Carebaco Team Tournament. At the Carebaco Junior Games 2017, Ananda won three (3) bronze medals in mixed doubles and doubles Under 19 and her team medal.

In 2018, she competed in the Junior National Championships where she won Bronze medal in the Girls Singles, Gold in Girls Doubles and Silver medal in the Mixed Doubles Under 19. She also competed in the Secondary School’s Badminton tournament where she won First place in the Under 21 Girls Singles. Later on, that year she competed in the Solo Junior Tournament which she placed third in the Under 19 Girls Singles, won a Silver medal for Girls Doubles and Silver in the Mixed Doubles Under 19.

As of 2019, Ananda has competed in the Senior National Badminton Tournament and placed 2nd in the Women’s Doubles and reached the Quarter Final in the Women’s Singles.
